September, 2009:

I Knit & Audio Boo

We’re currently on the train to London for I Knit. Should be interesting!

I’ve created an AudioBoo account you can follow me & subscribe to my recordings here http://audioboo.fm/profile/mirshad

Hopefully I’ll be recording some Boos at I Knit today 🙂

Craft room reorganising continued…

Day 4 and the room still looks a mess although slowly, pockets of space are appearing. At the beginning it was almost impossible to get into the room so it's progress albeit slow progress. I've been removing everything that doesn't belong in the room which includes a few hundred books. They're currently in stacks on the landing outside. I need to get some shelves up so that they go in other areas of the house. I also need to get rid of some of them too. I have been taking photos but I don't want to put any up until the room is done.

My self imposed deadline for the room is tomorrow and I'm not entirely sure whether I'll make it or not. I'm going to work through as much of today as I can, so we'll see! But I am cursing myself for being such a book lover!

The rest of the house is chaotic too since I've had to find places to temporarily put things while I sort out the craft room. It will be worth it in the end but it's not easy. Ah well, nothing worth doing is ever easy.

Oh, and on a plus point I'm now off until next Wednesday 🙂 Yes, it does give me more time to finish the room should I need it – but the main aim is to have time so that I can actually make something in the finished space. At the moment I'm thinking of sewing a top or possible a dress. Have found my gorgeous Liberty prints and want to make something fantastic and wearable. All suggestions gratefully received – comments are now enabled again since the spammers seem to have tired and gone elsewhere 🙂

Organising Craft Room & Catching up with Knitting

I'm a little behind with blogging. I'm still knitting the Mini sweater and over the weekend progressed to the point where I can knit the body on its own and have done about five rows on that. The sleeves are waiting and are on scarp yarn. They're supposed to be knit flat and then seamed as I recall, but I may just knit them in the round instead. I have to look for a coordinating colour to go with it too as I'm now on my second skein of yarn.

Doug and I are going to the I Knit event on Saturday. I'm just waiting for the tickets to arrive in the post. I'm planning on doing some interviews there for KnitCast which means that I'll have to grapple with RSS again. But I may try a new approach.

I'm off work this week and the main plan is to sort out and actually organise the craft room. It's been the main dumping ground in my house so while being full of various craft stuff, there are also things in there which shouldn't be there. My biggest problem is that I don't really have room for the things that aren't supposed to be in there. For example there's a box filled with mugs that hasn't been unpacked in the nearly three years since I moved from Andy's. This means some serious decluttering and possibly some ebaying and freecycling. Some of it will just have to be recycled or go out with the rubbish. I would like to be actually able to walk into the room unencumbered. I also want to have my yarn unpacked and organised, all my knitting mags organised, fabric etc. At the moment it's very difficult to get in the room at all. I'm thinking of taking some photos of the transformation.

Dealing with Comment Spammers

My blogs have been subject to attacks from spammers over the past five days. Their comments didn't make it to the publishing stage because TypePad has been excellent at recognising spam. However, I have comment notification by email and was getting all of the spammy comments that way. There were so many of them hogging my email that I couldn't find actual emails that people had sent which was really annoying.

As a result of all this I've had to close comments and trackbacks on all of my blog posts for both blogs. I'm only going to enable comments for recent posts in the future. Sadly, this is something that I'm going to just have to keep an eye on in the future. I'll be cross posting this to KnitCast.
