This is by no means an exhaustive list. I recommend that you call these stores to check opening hours and to see that they still exist before you make your trip. Stores that I’ve visited are in bold.
Afstap, De Oude Leliestr 12 1015AW Amsterdam
They have everything British – Rowan and the rest -, the lady who owns the shop is very very nice, she offfered me a cup of coffee while we were talking about knitting. In the shop there are a lot of books to browse. I opened the Starmore books (many bloggers talk about these books so it was cool to browse them at last, now I understand better)… and there are Addi needles and sock yarn so I gave in and bought both. Maglia, Breiwinkel 1e Bloemdwstr 2, 1016KS, Amsterdam
In this shop it is all about color, there are about 800 colors and the yarns are arranged according to colors, not weight or composition etc, so it is very enjoyable to sit there and watch. Oh, and the shop owner is a man, so it is the place to see a man knitting, and he is very talented as a designer too, he knits things for his women clients, from observing them or from pictures they may bring to him. I stayed there for a while, listening to him avidly… in the end of course I bought more Addis and sock yarn and left. (Review by Laurie)
Albert Cuuyp Straat Market, Amsterdam
Apparently this is the best placefor fabric in Amsterdam. I will let you know what I think when I come back!
