I've been a bit quiet on the net but have been active in my crafting. I made three skirts this week - one purple linen, one indian block print cotton and one cotton twill with faux Chinese embroidery print - I'm also finally making Andy's shirts. Next Friday, July 5th, is our 10th anniversary and I want them to be finished by then.

I'm only working Monday and Tuesday of next week so there's plenty of time to get them finished. I'm actually hoping to get them finished by Wednesday so that I can use the rest of my free time to work on some other sewing projects. I have several peasant tops and tunics to make plus a few more skirts, two gorgeous batik dresses using fabric from The Batik Butik and two jackets. I'm aiming to finish them this summer, some of them are projects left over from last summer!, but what with beading projects and knitting I'm not sure if I will. I left out two linen tops from that list too!

Well I'm back! Paris was great! La Drogueri is now my most favorite shop in the world. Knitting, beads, haberdashery - what a combination! Now I just have to plan when we'll visit Paris again, for Christmas shopping I hope!

I'm also a year older and you'll see that I've updated my age in the Blognav. It's a bit scary looking at this new decade but I'll cope. Not much else I can do!

Knitting wise - I bought 300g of a wonderful cotton/linen blend in La Droguerie and plan to make a short summer cardi from it. Hopefully I'll have enough yarn. I'm also making a seed stitch scarf from some Noro Kureyon.

BTW I couldn't believe when I saw this article about blogging in Iran on Blogger. I'm half Iranian and try to keep up with what's going on there. I don't know a great deal about Iran, my father is Iranian but I've never met him. I wouldn't want to visit Iran under the current inhuman and misogynous conditions. I'm glad that blogging is providing the people there a way to communicate without fear. Now I just have to work out how to translate Farsi into English!

I rang John Lewis earlier and they searched but did not have another skein of Noro's Iro in the colour I wanted. Tried another branch but they don't carry it. Went to Judy's store The Knitter and found it. I've ordered a couple of skeins of Silk Garden in shade 80 too. Eventually I'll be able to order a load from Up Country in order to make the stained glass cardigan from the last issue of Interweave Knits.

Can't wait for Thursday as we're off to Paris for a long weekend. Looking forward to checking out La Droguerie but since you have buy yarn by weight not by the skein lets hope that I don't end up buying too much or too little!

Well, we got back from London a couple of hours ago and I am worn out so this will be short.
I wasn't very well this weekend and almost fainted in a Pizza Express on Saturday. Because of this we didn't get to do quite as much as I would have liked but I did buy fabric, wool and beads! Yay!

I was over the moon to discover that John Lewis carries Noro. I bought four skeins of Kureyon in shade 40 (blues, greens etc.), one skein of Iro in shade 53 (purples, black, charcoal and green for a scarf for Andy) and some 6mm bamboos. Now of course four skeins of Noro is not nearly enough for anything so I went back there today and got four more. Now I have enough for a waistcoat and a scarf.

KIP (Knitting In Public) - I had taken my Jaeger Aqua DK bag with me to work on but soon left this in favor of a basketwork (? think it's called box stitch in UK) stitch scarf for Andy. It's turning out really nice but I'm going to have to call John Lewis tomorrow and see if they'll post me another skein.

I also bought fabric from Liberty and beads from The Bead Shop and looked at the jewellery rooms in the V&A museum. I didn't feel up to checking out the textiles dept but will next time.

More later!

We're off to London for the weekend tomorrow. I'm looking forward to visiting John Lewis, Liberty and The London Bead Shop among other places.

In non-crafty news I saw Spider-Man this morning at a press screening and it's fab! It's not out in the UK until June 14th but some cinemas will have selected previews. It's a an excellent movie but don't go thinking it'll have a feel-good ending. Spider-Man is angst city but that's what makes it so good. And the acting of course is excellent.

I'll be posting reviews of Liberty and John Lewis' yarn sections when I get back.

Sigh.......Sometimes I really hate how dependent I am on computers and the net. I'm still having problems getting and sending mail from all of my accounts and the fan on the comp is on it's last legs. So until the fan is fixed I can't do much surfing or blogging plus I'm behind on my emails.

Craftwise - I've been trying to finish a batik tunic top from one of Lois Ericson's patterns that I started sometime last year and planning some birthday presents for various Gemini's in my life.

While we're on the subject of birthdays my 30th is coming up way too fast for my liking. I know I shouldn't be worried about it but I am. I've always been pretty old for age, a bit boring and set in my ways I guess, but the prospect of leaving my twenties behind is still a bit scary.

Knitwise - I've started to make a red and blue striped bag from Jaeger Aqua DK. I was about a third done until I realised that my circular knitting was twisted. D'oh! Now it's frogged and I'm back to the casting on stage. I've also make a garter stitch strap out of Black Rowan Denim for a bag that I'm going to make from some old black cutoffs. I just have to find the cutoffs which I bought in Amsterdam years ago and have never worn. The bag will be lined in an interesting cotton and have a zipper opening for security. I may make a beaded belt to go through the belt loops.

I got the idea for the bag from the net but can't seem to find the original link. There's a similar bag here but it doesn't have a sewn on strap.

Folk Art - just found this site while looking for a denim bag link - I've only had a quick look but it has free patterns and articles about Folk Art and looks really good.
