Hello! I'm still here! Sadly I still have wrist pain, now in both wrists although the right one is still the most painful. However I have done a little knitting.

I've worked a few rows on my first Fuzzy Foot and some rows on a felted bag. Both projects are from Noro Kureyon and I'm looking forward to felting them. I must check out Rob's blog before I felt though as he posted some great tips on felting Kureyon recently. I also managed a row on the Sherlock cardi although now I doubt if I'll finish it before we go back to San Francisco in October.

A week tomorrow we travel to Cornwall for our friends Charlie and Andy's wedding. They've been together for the same amount of time that my Andy and I have - eleven years - but unlike us they always intended to marry. I'm never too sure what to wear to weddings and the unpredictable nature of Cornish weather added to my outfit worries. However I think that I have now found a solution that will work in most conditions. I'm going to wear a black linen skirt with black linen jacket - this I have to make - and my Kimono waistcoat (vest). I'll be using the Revisions One Seam Topper pattern for the jacket. It's a very simple pattern and the kimono like design of the sleeves will fit in with the waistcoat. Plus I'll have another decent black jacket. I did make a black one linen one seam topper over the weekend, although it needs pockets and finishing. I think I will need to make a medium size next as the linen cotton mix fabric I have in mind is quite crisp unlike the drapey fabric used on the last one.

Finishing jackets can be a problem as I find it very difficult to decide how to decorate them. I like the idea of various fabrics for pockets etc. but then I find that I don't have enough plain basic garments to work with my wardrobe.

This week I had two new garments since I'd finished the bias cut black skirt and a notch necked blue top over the weekend. I also made a new pair of pajama bottoms from a wonderful Laurel Burch patterned flannel. Unlike the top, which needed a lot of pressing and top stitching, the skirt and pajama bottles were very quick to make. This probably explains why I have so many self-made skirts and trousers yet few tops! I can never seem to find a simple top pattern that I like. I'm still not sure about the sizing of the vee necked Lois Ericson shirt from her On Top pattern yet. I usually end up with something that's either too big or too small.

Well we'll see what I can come with over the weekend!

Still no knitting sadly but I have been watching a lot of TV including Doctor Who. I'm halfway through watching the Tom Baker era on UK Gold and of course there is a knitting connection here. You can find a history of Tom Baker's scarves - yes someone took the time to research it - plus patterns for them. I may one day make the purple/plum/rust variation but in a far shorter length than the actual 20 - 24 feet! I'm not that big a fan! :-)

I have done a small amount of sewing and have been working on a bias cut skirt from a linen/cotton blend in black. I bought the fabric in Swansea on Saturday along with a gorgeous blue linen that is calling to be a beautiful shirt.

My wrist is still sore but I'm cheerier than I have been. I saw the doctor today - one of the doctors at my practice just happens to be the doctor for my workplace too - and he prescribed some anti-inflammatory medication. They should reduce the pain but I have to watch that I don't get into my bad typing habits again. This means taking everything more slowly.

I'm still not knitting, best to leave it for a couple more weeks. But I have bought a pair of the Handeze gloves that Emma recommended in my comments a couple of posts back. Thanks Emma! I'll let you know how they work out.

I've been missing knitting more than I could have imagined. Reading the knit blogs was quite painful as others were able to knit away and I couldn't. The Jaeger Luxury Accessories book by my bedside - not really bedtime reading I'm just lazy and had left it there! - was a real tease especially since I have a couple of balls of Fur in my stash. The Kitty hat and scarf look very inviting.

That's the end of my typing for today!

No knitting for me for a while...

Today while at work the pain in my right wrist became unbearable. We have a
nurse on the premises fortunately and she examined it for me. She has
recommended that I avoid using my right arm and put ice packs and pain
relieving gel on it. So this is being typed with my left hand and being sent
via email.

She has also had a look at my work space and said that she's not surprised
that I've developed this problem. So things are changing there and my
colleagues are helping me with tasks that have to be typed. I was due to
studio produce tomorrow but someone else is doing that for me instead so
that I get a break.I will produce on Thursday because there's little typing
involved.

I can't wait until my wrist is better again, work is limited and at home I
obviously can't knit or sew. I'm right handed so I can't write either. Time
to catch up with the TV watching I guess!

I've now had RSI for over a week hence the lack of blogging. I'm trying to avoid heavy computer use and I've had to stop knitting. :-( I have been able to do some machine sewing but I'm more interested in the knitting of course which I can't do.

I bought some new yarn yesterday the new Jaeger Fur in black and Rowan's new Chunky Print in a purple shade. I plan to make a scarf a bit like Knitty's RockStar and some wrist warmers. I did try some knitting last night - I'm halfway through my first Fuzzy feet in Noro Kureyon - but didn't take long for my wrist to ache again. I'm typing this with one hand which isn't ideal so I'll sign off now. Have to get the wrist better.
