April, 2005:

Wiped Out by a Virus

Not a computer virus but a throat virus. I was sent home from work last Tuesday by one of my bosses who was worried about me and wasn’t well enough to go back until today. I also had to miss last week’s Stitch & Bitch So, the box opening is delayed for a little while. So are some of my emails, including some KnitCast ones.

There is a new edition of KnitCast though, over at the KnitCast Blog.

While I was off I knit a pair of socks in Lynn H’s ColorSport Sock Yarn. They’re in the "In The Garden" colourway which isn’t available anymore. However,  Lynn’s Jo’s Garden and Happy Day look a little similar. I can’t wait to take a picture of these socks because Lynn’s painting is extraordinary. These are wonderful socks.

I’m now knitting socks from some yarn from Over The Rainbow Yarns and I think it’s just the wrong colour choice for me. I think it’s called "Nite Rainbow" but it’s a very dull colourway and I seem to have enough for two pairs of socks. I may trade the rest as I’m sure someone would love it, I just have an urge for something brighter.

I Love Hats!

The last couple of weekends have been very busy. Over Easter I knit two of Tina Whitmore’s Page Boy Hats. The pattern, which also has designs for a flapper style hat and a beret,  is available from StitchDiva. This pattern is great! The Page Boy hats are so easy and I’ve been really pleased with  the results. The hats have felted brims and use a chunky yarn, although I used two strands of worsted weight yarn instead.

I’ve used Nefertiti (yes, I know she isn’t the
real one but she’s still very glamourous and queen-like), to model the hats.

Her head isn’t human
head sized which is why the hats look a bit too big. Check out the StitchDiva page to see the exact size.

The first is knit with two strands of Lamb’s Pride Worsted in Onyx

The second is from two strands of Colinette Skye in Summer Berries.

Remember the March 24th entry of Mariko’s blog? Well the bottom parcel

arrived at my house over the weekend. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see what was inside it! 🙂
