Birdies for the New Year…

I was lucky enough to have some yarn amongst my Xmas presents this year

Two skeins of sock yarn from my lovely friend Helen.

She also gave me some beautiful stitch markers

I’ve deployed one already

The picture isn’t as clear as I’d like, taken with a daylight bulb as it’s so dark these days, but this is last week’s project still in progress. It’s an Owl Hat by Ruthie Nussbaum, this time for me. I made three of these this year all in different yarn for friends. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to give the owls button eyes.

After Xmas of course comes the sales. Normally I hate going to town for the sales as it’s so busy. But I waited and was rewarded by being able to find these Glitter Birds in Paperchase for half price. So pleased that I didn’t give in and buy some before Xmas.

Of course I particularly like the turquoise one…

I also picked up two of these lovely cups and saucers today. They’re slightly more vivid in real life.

I hope that you all have a fantastic 2013!

It was the Night Before Christmas and the needles were not silent…

I’m so glad that my Christmas gift knitting is over. It was really up to the wire and I won’t be doing that again!

I can’t tell you what I knit as some friends have yet to open their presents but I did start knitting myself one on Sunday night

All I can say is that I’m making it in Cascade 220 Worsted yarn

It’s cold so Emma has been hanging out by the radiator. She doesn’t understand that now she’s four she’s a lot bigger than she was as a kitten and can’t drape herself across it as she used to. She’s convinced that she’s still exactly the right size for it. I’ve tried getting her to use one of those radiator hanging beds but she insists that she hates them and they’re not the same as her draping. So there.

Merry Xmas, everyone.

It's just not Christmas without having pets dressed as Santa

As can be seen in Martha’s gallery here. 800+ images of pets in various Christmas situations, including many cats sat inside trees. Which has made me wonder Emma will react to the tree when I errect it.

Pushkin was very good but then he was an older cat. He did like the ornaments when he was a kitten and I sent everyone xmas cards back then with a photo of him playing with some. Ultimately I’m wondering whether she’ll pull the tree over (it’s fake btw) or destroy some of the ornaments. If she harms my  Hallmark limited edition Wonder Woman ornament, there’ll be ructions!

Knitting content coming in my next post 🙂
